Odisha Govt to reduce School Syllabus: As per the latest update, Odisha Govt has decided to reduce the overall syllabus for school students in near future in the light of COVID-19 pandemic. The news has been confirmed by the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in a recent interaction with a national level media agency. With schools closed for past 5 months, completion of the school syllabus for all the classes in online mode has been a major challenge highlighted by students, teachers and parents. Taking into account this challenge, the state government is looking at curtailing the syllabus to reduce some burden on them.

News Confirmed by Education Minister

As reported earlier, the news about reduction in the overall school syllabus has been confirmed by the state education minister. Reports indicate that reduction will be applicable for both secondary as well as higher secondary schools for both BSE Odisha and CHSE Odisha, as  is being planned by the government. Speaking to ANI, Samir Ranjan Dash said, “We are working on the issue of syllabus reduction for students. Though no decision has been taken yet on how much it will be reduced, a clear picture is likely to come in a couple of days.”

Quantum of Reduction to be Decided As per Reopening Plan

Taking about the quantum of syllabus that might be reduced as part of the overall plan of the government, Mr Dash added that the exact percentage by which the syllabus would be reduced will be decided on the basis of the reopening plan shared by the central government. “It’s time to wait what guidelines are issued by the Centre, and then the state government will take a decision after reviewing the COVID-19 situation. The percentage of reduction can be ascertained only after the dates of the reopening of schools are decided,” the School and Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash added.
