Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad are appealing for public assistance following a sexual assault in Werribee last week.
Police have been told a woman aged in her 30s was in the company of an unknown man between 8.45pm and 10pm on Friday, 31 July.
The man led the woman to a public toilet block at Soldiers Reserve, near the College Road entrance, and subsequently sexually assaulted her.
He then pushed her to the ground and rummaged through her backpack and personal items.
The man then left the area on foot and headed off in an unknown direction.
The victim, who has an intellectual disability, had gone missing from her home earlier in the day and was located by police just before 10.10pm outside a school on Duncans Road.
She later disclosed the sexual assault to a carer, who reported the matter to police.
Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad are investigating and are urging anyone who saw the man in the area on the night to come forward.
He is described as having a shaved head and at the time of the incident, was wearing a fluorescent orange tradesman’s shirt, ripped brown tradesman pants and work boots.
The man was also wearing a face mask at the time of the incident.
This week detectives have conducted a significant canvas of the area in an attempt to find CCTV of the man.
CCTV of the offender and victim walking east along Duncans Road from the intersection of Synnot Street about 8.40pm has been released.
Two people walking west on Duncans Road, along with two vehicles which turned right from Synott Street to travel east on Duncans Road are also captured in the CCTV.
Detectives are keen to speak to these people in the hope they can provide any information, including dash-cam footage from the vehicles.
They are urging anyone else who was in the area who has CCTV footage, or who was driving through the area that night and has dash-cam footage, to please contact police.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
