Local food trucks will convene in front of the DASH (Dependable, Affordable, Sustainable Housing) office in mid-August, serving unique specialties.
For its first event back since COVID-19 first hit LaGrange, DASH will host food trucks to bring more locals to the neighborhood to see it.
“We wanted to bring this to historic Hillside. With area businesses and LaGrange College coming back in session, DASH wanted to bring an event where people could enjoy the outdoors while maintaining social distancing and mask-wearing. People can come by grab their lunch and go back to their home or office,” said Gina Snider, DASH Marketing and Community Outreach Manager. “The Thread corridor is here, so someone can grab lunch on their daily walk. We hope people come enjoy good food and the weather.”
Local food trucks like Kona Ice, GOAT’s Food Truck and Blue Nomad Grill will be in attendance for the Dine and ‘DASH’ event.
The trucks will park at in front of the new DASH office at 1302 Brownwood Avenue in the Historic Hillside in LaGrange on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“If this is a success, we will have them come back in October and do it again,” Snider said. “There will also be someone helping people fill out their 2020 Census if they come by to get lunch and haven’t filled out the Census yet.”
Snider said they won’t have any tables out, and it will be a very easy going event.
“We are pretty excited,” Snider said. “It really will be just like what the name is, where you can come grab food and leave when you’re done. We just want people to notice the community of Hillside and grab their attention. Hillside has a lot to offer over here that the community may not have known about before.”
DASH moved into its new office right before the pandemic in early March and was hoping to host an open house.
“We wanted to do something outside and thought this would be fun to do and safe,” Snider said. “We hope it’s a success, so we can bring it back.”
